Adopting Virtually Saves Lives... Literally
How it Works...
Have you ever really, REALLY wanted to help but did not necessarily want a street dog in your home? It’s okay to admit it, we have all thought it. Here is the solution… virtual adoption! These dogs need help, they do not care if it comes in the form of cash or feeling better…we prefer they feel better. Yes, we want homes for the dogs eventually, but for now, isn’t health a good option?
Here is how you can Adopt a Street Dog, and still keep your house clean! P.s. Virtual adoption fees are suggested only, we will happily accept any amount and post updates for each dog.
Virtual adopters will receive a certificate of virtual adoption containing a photo of their dog, as well as the undying thanks of Lana’s Fund.

ZuZu
Virtual Adoption Fee $50
Adopters Needed = 13
Found hairless and in heat on Liberty Road in
Houston’s notorious Fifth Ward, she is now healthy and beautiful! She is in temporary foster with Ms. Rosa’s
Halfway House which is FULL! She
needs a kennel built ($500), and a ride to Midland, TX ($150) and she will
have a place to stay until she is adopted. This
will also help support Bully Beds, Inc. one of our fellow pit bull partners.
Della Street
Virtual Adoption Fee $50
Adopters Needed = 13
Della wandered over to Ms. Rosa’s underweight
and sad. She was tied outside at first,
since Ms. Rosa had so many dogs, but one night someone stole Della, who Ms Rosa
called “Big Mama”. A day later, Big
Mama, a.k.a. Della, came wandering back “home” with a chewed through rope
around her neck. Della is a smart
cookie, and knows where the good life is. She has been accepted into Bully
beds, Inc. rescue, and needs the same funds ZuZu needs; namely a kennel run and
a ride to Midland!
Little Bit was found wandering with her mom in
front of a convenience store looking for food.
Her belly was so full of worms, she looked like a miniature elephant!
She is suffering from at least one kind of mange, and has been treated for what
we have on hand, medicine wise (fleas, worms, mange), but really needs to see a
vet, and get spayed when she is a little older.
She will be VERY adoptable when she is well, so that is our goal with
her for now. Mama ran off and there were
no other puppies. But as soon as we can, we will rescue mom too!

Blackie has been at Ms. Rosa’s halfway house for
some time now. He is a gentle, happy,
but calm male dog. He is not yet neutered, but shows no interest in Ms. Rosa’s
females, even though they are all spayed.
He really often wants to get away from them, as they seem too
rambunctious for him at times. Ms. Rosa
ties him out at times and he is so happy to be outside he jumps and runs and
plays by himself. He has the basics, except for Rabies shot and
neutering. His
needs would come to about $180 total as he needs heartworm testing.
Prince is an adorable and gorgeous young tan pit
bull puppy, about 9 mos old. He is
timid, but adores Ms. Rosa as you can see above.
He was found hanging out around a vacant lot where
adults gathered daily to play cards and dominos, and eat and drink. They never even looked at him as he scrounged
around for trash thrown on the ground to eat. Ms. Rosa gained his trust and walked him home one
day. The rest is history. A sweeter
puppy with green eyes has not yet been born! Prince
needs basic vetting and neutering. His
costs will come to about $180 because he needs heartworm testing.

Mabel
Virtual Adoption Fee $20
Adopters needed 10
Mabel (Mothers Always Bring Extra Love) is one of
our pregnant street dogs. We are not sure if she is owned, but she is
definitely not cared for. When we saw
her this day, she was sniffing the trash for edibles. We fed her a bunch of food and she ate for it
seemed ½ an hour! She is ready to
deliver any time now. We need to get her
to a vet to ensure the pups are okay.
She will need the basic package, vet care and
eventual spay surgery. Her pups, if born
alive, will need vet care. Mabel’s
costs will probably be in the neighborhood of $200 due to her pregnancy. This includes spay surgery after she gives
birth (or before) depending on the vet recommendation.

Niecy (Nash)
Virtual Adoption Fee $20
Adopters needed 12
Niecey was seen a week ago (Nov 17, 2012) pregnant! This past Saturday (Nov. 24, 2012) she was not pregnant anymore.
We are on the lookout for her pups, she has hidden them well. We need to take all of them to a vet to make sure that she and they are healthy. This can run into approximately $140 in vet costs. Her spay surgery, as soon as she is able to have it, will cost about $100.
