One reason is that, especially in this economic doldrums, people are finding it harder to keep their pets. They are barely able to pay for the necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter. Even if they could afford pet food, they cannot afford a vet visit, or ongoing health maintenance such as flea and heart worm preventative. They may love their pet, but many cultures consider a dog "just a dog".
We want to take that excuse away! If we provide food, medicines, preventative, and spay/neuter, how many people would keep their pet? One result of keeping their pet is one less dog in the kill shelter, and one less animal who lost his life while being loved and wanted, but not afforded.
We have submitted grants to gain support for this project called "Let's Stay Together"... until we hear if that comes through, we are providing donated food, flea preventative, hw preventative, and offering spay/neuter as we are able to afford it ourselves. We keep track and remind people of upcoming due dates for medicines, etc.
We are a tiny but mighty fund! If you can help, please donate or contact us. We can always use volunteers, donated supplies (see our Wish List), and networking support.
All across the city. As we are able.
